Years ago on Valentine’s Day, Jodi gave me a handmade card featuring the words of one of Pablo Neruda’s poems… “O mi bienamada.” I was intrigued. I’d never heard the word Bienamada, which means “beloved.” It felt like some old-world wonder. The kind of word that carries the weight and history of two lovers who whose lives are intertwined. “Bienamada” stayed with me for years, percolating in song and spirit until finally I captured our story in song on my Latin-Grammy nominated album, La Que Manda.
